The Washington Post reports that high-fructose corn syrup contains mercury. The industry's response?
"Our industry has used mercury-free versions of the two re-agents mentioned in the study, hydrochloric acid and caustic soda, for several years."
FOR SEVERAL YEARS? Are they frakking kidding me? So it was perfectly ok to use mercury in refining something so omnipresent in the nation's food supply up until a few years ago?
